Guys, I am in the procress of trying to buy a 1965 365HP and was wandering what is the correct AC element for this car? Is it like the 63 340 HP? If I get the car I will invest in a judging manual. Thanks Keith

Re: 65 365 Air Filter Element
Joe and John,
Thanks for your input. Both of you say it is like the 63 then I am up to speed. Now which of you have and original screen and element? Now that I am looking for one for a 63 and now a 65. Keith- Top

Plus...
any 'originals' that you find will have suffered time-deterioration of the foam. It has a distinct shelf life...
Reproductions use foam with a slightly different color, thickness, foam aeroation density. Plus, to my knowledge, NOBODY has bellied up to the bar to take a reproduction license from GM so they can make a 'correct' reproduction of the foam replete with the AC embossed part number...- Top

Re: Plus...
Paragon has just the foam element with the correct extruded shape (#1004), just the screen (#1003), and the foam element & screen assembly (#1005K); don't know if it has any other markings on it. They also have the functional paper replacement element.- Top

Re: 65 365 Air Filter Element
Joe, Thanks, being I have never been around the 365 AC assemby I assume once the element and screen are on the car one is not able to tell whether they are repro or original. I would slso guess NCRS would take them off the car and be able to tell correct? Long Island is showing a filter and screen and he specifies one must be used with the other. Do you have any input here? Tanks.- Top

Re: 65 365 Air Filter Element
Keith From the judging guide. Original perforated screens have larger diameter holes than current reproductions screens. This may be determined by the width of metal separating the holes. This distance on original screens measures approximately 1/32 inches and current reproductions measure approximately 1/16 inches.- Top

Re: 65 365 Air Filter Element
Why do these company spend the time and money to build and sell something that is not exactly like the original? Why not do it right the first time? I have bought so many repro parts that are not even close to the original that I am replacing. i just put my original used part back on. I have a box of repro parts that I am going to sell on ebay because it is so junkie I would not put it on my 67. Dale- Top
