Back in 1977 I was hired by Kodak to photograph the 1977 Watkins Glenn Trans AM, CAM Race in July. I happened to pull the slide out tonight, I can't remember the last time I looked at them. Well, I found A LOT of vintage road racing Corvettes and I took several of a Greenwood #6 Greg Pickett. Got some EXCELLENT shots of his car. Another one I got was this PINK looks like a 73 or 74 and several other car a #6 Convert with the #6 in a red heart....I will have to get the digitized and post them. Anybody recall any of these cars. I captured about 7 different Corvettes, only one midyear convertible, black with the square roll cage around it.....anybody remember these? Sorry I can't post them now, they are all slides...

Re: Found some Vintage SCCA Photos 1977....
Colin...there is lots of good work being done right now to gather and share Corvettes history of racing.
Here is hoping you will have your slides scanned or prints made so you can post the pictures.
I fully realize this is a technical discussion board that promotes the restoration of Corvettes as they left the factory..but racing..certainly made a difference in the survival of Corvette in the 50's and added to its appeal over the years.
Anxious to see the photographs you took back in 1977.

I recently bought a slide scanner from Hammacher-Schlemmer (new item) for $99.95; slides go in a carrier (holds 3), push a button to scan, USB connection to your computer, and bingo! You have a high-resolution (2592 x 1944) image of each slide. Also has a 35mm film carrier for negative strips for scanned images of color and B&W film (holds a 5-image strip). Works much better than the slide scanner built into the lid of many conventional flatbed scanners. Got tired of sending them out to have them done commercially and burned to CD's.- Top

Re: Found some Vintage SCCA Photos 1977....
It is funny that this thread would appear just as I am trying to mentor a
father and son (college student) in doing reasear on their 1969 gold corvette
that they have owned for 10years but didn't know what to do with it.
It was purchased new in August 1968 and immediately drag raced for several
years woth a L71 and a L88. They have original paperwork.
Was sponsered by QUICKSILVER RACING in the Virginia area.
This new NCRS member the son is extremely excited about what has just
been discovered about this car.
This all started because a fellow member has stepped up to mentor these guys
with the hopes that this car might be a American Heritage candidate someday.
Not all corvettes are stock, but they still have a place in our NCRS group.- Top
