    Time marches on

Has any one notice that some people {can} take a basket case turn it into a race car by adding this and that ,paint a number on it and have it enterned in NCRS with some history that it was ran on Joe's race track. It's googol'ed over and can be worth more then a original . Or the MOD Corvette having C5 or 6 running gear costume interior in leather again googol'ed over and bring more money then a stock original Corvette. Or the kit you can buy or have done on a C5 or 6 again looking like a 62 and sell for 150K and more. These Corvettes ?? Are hot now with people buying them or making them up.Ever wonder why ? Could it be because the original Corvette after being pedigreed (awards & Duntov'ed )then never see's the light of day but for shows.
The few of us that drive one ( even if getting awards) is RARE! Other forum have more people talking and doing those Corvettes then this forum. Ten years ago I would have never thought more Corvettes would end up that way then original Corvettes being restored .
What will happen to these restored Corvettes , collectors ? Museums? Over seas interest .What do you think?

    Re: Time marches on

I think the trend will have a fairly long term standing. This will only make the original cars worth more in the end though. Right now, it's a fad and people fantasize about having one they can drive anywhere with AC and the like. They'll always be one crowd that like the retro stuff and one crowd that likes the original stuff. I've built both and only have the original stuff today. Only the fresh retro stuff will bring the big $$. If it's worn, it will be just another retro car. Same goes for original too, I suppose.
As time goes by, they'll lose a little luster. Things always seem to come "full circle" in the end.

First off I can not stand these resto rods and the cost is out of this world. I have 3 children who hope to own corvettes some day , unfortunatly they love the mid years . They will probably not be able to afford one unless i give them one of mine. Their next problem is that they will not be able to get insurance until they are in their late 20's which is 10 years from now. I hope that like real estate the over hyped value of the Corvette comes down so that real people can drive them.
