    61 hand layed fiberglass c1

when i was at the national in calif. a few years ago corvette mike told me he owned s/n 0007 or 0008 and it had- to my understsnding-hand layed glass on the underpan.i own s/n 00013 and it does not have any hand layed fiber glass.john hinckley just told me-bodies frequently left the paint shop in a different sequence than they went in,due to reruns for repairs, but once they were loaded on the trim line they were locked in sequence from that point until the endn of the line.since my dash cluster and dash are marked with a 1 ,my car 00013 could be the first car to go down the line because it didnt need repairs.sounds good to me .

61 # 2 also had a fair amount of hand laid glass, only in the tail section.

There is a thread below about the car and most were not buying it as factory, so what gives? smoke screen trying to scare off buyers? or did early cars before #13 have the kind of look in the ebay ad.

So far in researching my car I have learned that s/n 0002,0008,00011 have hand layed glass.I have heard that is generally on the rear of the floor pan.The body build number-in grease pencil-would be a clue as to how long these earlycars were sidelined in the body shop before they went down the assy. line. The body no.is located under the dash cluster housing and under the dashpad below the mirror. My s/n is 00013-my body no.is 1,so Im guessing all the other cars were held up for repairs and mine was the first car to receieve a no. and to proceed down the assy. linePretty cool if Im right.A lot of history going on.
