" AZZ KIKR" Con Air-Nick Cage

    Members,

Anyone know what happened to that 67 conv. car? It was a small block, silver/blk with a 4 speed and wrong 66 knock offs. I can't imagine they actually distroyed it for the movie??? You know, the one with the azz kikr license plate!

I do see John Cusack, rarely around Malibu, but I don't think he'd know much about it either?

    Thanks!

      Justin,

You want to cry watch the Justin Timberlake video with the Corvette. They bought two a numbers matching original owner, and a beater. Well guess what when they sent them to the effects shop for rigging they cut up and rigged the REAL car. I saw the results in a movie car yard holes cut in the floor for the cage tank ripped out through a hole cut in the rear compartment. Pretty sure they wasted a few Vettes in the Cage film.

Whether real or not, there was an ad in the Chevy and Corvette trader about 5 years ago advertising the Con-Air car. Said it was NOM, but had documentation about its history in the movie. Seems like at the time the asking price was in the high 40's.

Note the Vette that hit the ground looks like a 63-64. See the side coves as it lands.

I have read on a number of web sites that the Corvette being "towed" by the plane, as well as the ultimate crash of the car, was all special effects. I can believe that. The effect of the aircraft's CG, etc. from that car would be significant.

They probably should have added a message that says "No Corvettes were harmed in the making of this movie".

I believe Pro-Team sold that car about 4 to 5 years ago or at least I remember them advertising it as the original car used in that movie, but I thought it was Elkhart blue color.

A friend in Shell Beach California bought and restored the car that was dragged and dropped by the plane.

Not sure where the car ended up after it was done.

I would be very skeptical about that. Don't believe that a car was dragged by the plane. This was special effects, according to the company that did it (see link below).

I do think that an actual car was dropped. Someone thought it might be a 63/64 vintage, based on the side panels.

When the movie came out, I remember seeing several places that no real Corvettes were damaged because Nicholas Cage is a Corvette fan. The one that was dropped was a dummy, made of parts and stuff, to look like a car.

I don't know how true it is, but you notice that Cage has a lot of muscle cars in films and typically has had a Corvette or two in many.
