67 oil filter adapter AC #5573842

    Members,

I was cleaning the aluminum housing and the two "ur" stamped bolts. I noticed a spring that was holding a small screen in place. Can that be taken apart to be cleaned? Does someone sell the small screen?

    Thanks!

    Justin-----

What you are referring to is the bypass valve which is an integral part of the adapter. My recollection is that this is "permanently" installed in the adapter and is not designed for field removal or service. In any event, I would be extremely reluctant to try to remove it. I know of no SERVICE components of the bypass valve ever available, past or present.

      Thanks Joe!!!

I was able to push down on the screen with my pinky and see the spring compress. I thought maybe I could sneak some needle/nose pliers in there on the spring, hopefully enough to remove the screen? It all lines up with rather awkward angles and seems difficult?

      Thanks again!
