1967 L79 valve cover casting flaw

The attached photo shows the "O" in a NOS L79 valve cover. Note that the "O" is half filled. I'm curious whether the half-filled "O" has ever been seen on known-original production valve covers, or whether it is something that appeared later in the service replacement parts. Anyone have an opinion?

    Joe...

I believe my '66 covers to be original and they have the half-filled "O" as your picture shows.

'66 L79 valve cover casting flaw

      Joe,

I've got one believed-to-be original valve cover for my July build date '66 L79 and the O is not half-filled in; it's completely open.

No flaw line or half-filled "o" on early service

Joe --- Bloomington, mid-80's, scored an NOS cover still in the GM box with yellow and black sticker. What year did the blue/white start ?

          I see that '65 TIM&JG says no flaw or half-filled "o".

These covers must have been a high-volume service item for hot-rodders.

In 1967 I bought a 63 SS with 327/300 that the previous owner had installed the aluminum valve covers.
