    61 cove trim attachment points

I am about to attach the cove trim on my 61 Vette. Unfortunately, all of the holes for the trim attachment screws have been filled in (front and back and smoothed down or fiberglassed over where it is not possible to see where the original holes were and the exterior is painted in final).

Question: How many attachment screws are used on each of the trim pieces (there are 5 trim pieces per side)and how were they spaced. The package of attachment screws from Corvette Central comes with 44 of the T shaped attachment screws and 6 of the flat "snap on" "screws" Can someone comment or any ideas on where a diagram or photo or other info could be found.

    Many thanks.

    Charles:
The AIM has two pages showing the installation of the side trim. They are under "side mouldings" and "front fender mouldings". They show the type of screw at it's body location but the "side moulding" page does not give the number of screws required. The exact location of each screw will probably have to come from looking at someone's car and taking measurements.

Look on the inside of the fender and door and the original hole locations should be observable. That is how I found the original location for the fuel injection emblems. The rear hole in the fender is in a blind location and that is probably why that one is attached with a screw and the trim is snapped on.

        Hi!

I am restoring a 61 at this time, I have the trim off the right side and will need to remove the trim from the left side. If you can wait until after the weekend, I can take a tracing of the hole locations and US mail the tracing to you.
