    C3 Water Pump Date

Hi. Need some help! My water pump(#608) is dated I119 (sept. 11, 1969) and my motor was built Sept. 16, 1969 is that the correct pump for the car??? or is that date to close to the motor build date?? Any help appreciated.

    Anthony----

I'd say the date works fine. Waterpumps were cast at Saginaw and machined/assembled at Flint, just like the engines.

Thanks Joe I am trying to get the car ready for judging and Iam going over all the numbers. Do you know do they check head #'s in the manual they say they don't but someone told me that they do.

      Thanks
      Anthony

        Anthony-----

The only way that the cylinder head numbers could be checked would be to remove the oil fill cap and peer in. The numbers are often in a position where they could be seen, though, if this were done. I have no idea if it actually is done.

            Anthony,
I've been told that many experienced mechanical team judges do just as Joe Lucia explained to confirm head numbers, not that they deduct points for incorrect numbers (yet), but for their own information. Whether they read both cast numbers and dates, I don't know yet.

              Thanks Kent

The casting numbers are correct but the date is off.
