    C2 Plug Wire Routing

Hi, I am having a problem with the routing of my plug wires on my 65 327/350. Mainly the #1,3, and #2 and 4 wires. Do they run under the motor mount or just by it? Also I ordered two wire holders that mount on an oil pan bolt on each side but which bolt do they go on? I am using original shielding and wires but no the J-Brackets that mount underneath. I am putting the car together from scratch as it didn`t have running gear when I bought it so I didn`t have anything as an example. Thanks, Mike

    Mike----

The wires for the 2 forward cylinders on each side go between the motor mount and the block. If you have the type of wires that are completely assembled out of the box, you MAY be able to thread them through by pushing the distributor end of the wires through the space between the block and the motor mount. Push the terminal through first, then push the boot through. When I do this, though, I just remove the bolts securing the motor mount to the block and raise the engine enough to make getting the wires through easy.

The clips that you are referring to go on the oil pan bolt that is closest to bottom of the "V" of the "V"-shaped, lower shields.

Thanks Joe, The engine is out of the chassis right now so I can thread them through or either remove to mount to get them in place. I don`t have the "V" shields yet so don`t have then to go by. Is it forward or aft of the drain plugs? I loooked at my books but couldn`t determine by them.

I believe the clip you are refering to goes under the 4th bolt back from the front of the engine. You may want to check the Long Island Corvette web site they have some drawings of the shielding that might help.

            Mike a little lube and

those plug boots (dist cap boots) slide right off and on. Makes it much easier to thread the wires thru the motor mounts. (from the top of the mount) Phil 8063

Re: Mike a little lube and

Thanks Everyone! I got them installed I removed the mounts as it is hanging in front of the chassis. I installed the oil pan clips on screw #5 if you count the very front bolt under the edge of the timing cover. I have several thousand pictures of midyears saved over the last 8 years but none clearly shows the location. I dug thru the archives as it was discussed but never clearly named the exact bolt that I could find. #5 in just in front of the side drain plug just in front of it. The v shields I just hadn`t bought yet as I am still working on the running gear with the body off.I think I will go ahead and get the V shield as I am sure that they are easier to install now rather than when the body is on. Thanks Again, Mike
