    big block fuel pumps

    Hello all

My 69 L88 fuel pump has started to leak and I am looking to replace. The car currently has a pn#6440659 pump and the JG says it should be a 6440718. Taking a quick look through the vendor parts catalogs I can't find anyone who offers a 6440718 pump but everyone seems to have the 6440659 or they list using the 6440482 for my application. What are the differences between the pumps? Are they all functionally interchangeable?

Actually, I don't think that a 40659 would be correct for your car in any case. I believe the 40659 was used for L-36 and the 40482 used for L-71 and L-68. The 40718 was, supposedly, used for L-88. The 40659 was once available in SERVICE, but it's been discontinued for years. The 40718 was never available in SERVICE.

The 40482 is the SERVICE pump for ALL 1969 427 Corvettes and it has been for over 30 years. It will function perfectly for your application and should be very close to the original in configuration. It will NOT have the "AC" logo on the sides of the casting and it will not have the the type number stamped on the bottom of the flange.

You may be able to get "reproductions" of the 40482 that have all the original features. I don't know if "reproductions" of the 40718 are available.
