'62 Clutch Bracket on Engine

In cleaning up this part that bolts to the block for the clutch, it shows no sign of ever having been painted. Is that right, it would not have been painted? Or should it be painted orange as it may have been on the block when painted or is it painted black along with the other clutch parts?

That bracket was bolted to the bellhousing at St. Louis, so it wouldn't be orange; I believe it was dip-primed semi-gloss black.

Semi-black was the color I found during tear down of a 1962 that was unrestored.

Thanks all, mine has not been restored either, but I just find it unusual for there to be no finish at all, on the clutch bracket and the cross shaft. Then I wonder if they had been replaced, but if replaced with new, most GM parts that I have bought would be painted black, even if original on the car were not painted. The mystery on this car continues. Dennis, is yours an early car or a late car?
