C3-Lic Plate Bezel -Rechrome or New?

My rear license plate bezel needs replaced or rechromed on my 71. What is recommended? Should I get it rechromed? If so, how much would that cost - ballpark figure? Or should I I buy a GM restoration piece from Paragon?

Probably buy new. Most of these are well past replating.

Take care when buying these in repro. Old brain cells, but I recall that the repro rivets are oversized while the originals are fairly small. I bought mine from Chevrolet about five years ago and they judged well without any deductions. They were pricey at the time - again, old brain cells say in the $50 range while the repros were in the $15 range. Don't trust my numbers but they are ball park.

I think we're talking about 2 different things here. I think the original question was about the rear BEZEL. This is a chromed, zinc-diecast part that often "pits" from exhaust gas in the vicinity.

The part I think you're talking about is the license plate FRAMES. These are stainless steel and usually hold up real well.
