The only open wheel racing I'd ever bother to watch is the World Of Outlaw sprint cars. Those guys have cajones. I feel the same way about Indy as I do the NBA, the only way I'd watch it is if they paid me.

i used to go to indy with pit passes for practice and quailifing when there were all differnt kinds of cars and engines BUT once it became a spec series i quit going. i remember hearing those 180 degree headers on the V-8 fords in 1964 when we were walking down the street to get into the track.

Growinf up in Cnetral IN, I was fortunate enough to see the Turbine cars durinig Time trials. We went every year to watch qualifiactions but rarely went to the race. In the 90's I spent 28 of 31 days at the track in 93. I had fullaccess to most anywhere. Garage, Pits, etc. It was great to get there at 7am and talk to the drivers and owners, including Roger Penske and Mario. It was great time!!!! NOW though, it's just not the same.

I went to the race in 2006 and I was surprised just how neat it still was. I don't like the Japanese cars, engines either. Nascar is even getting this way.
BUT...when the flag drops and the cars start to race, and you'er in turn one, it's just awesome. Don't cheat yourself by not going. It's still racing in the USA. It's aneat thing to be a part of also.
