    Fiberglass repair of small hole

On my 61 Vette, the slots for the side spears on the fiberglass replacement cove were off by 3/4 inch and at the wrong angle. The car just came out of painting (with lacquer) and I would like to correct the slots and fill the incorrect ones and repaint the cove.

My question is what is the best way to repair a small slot like this (repainting with lacquer) so that the slots/holes do not show through after painting. Do I use fiberlass, two part fiberglass filler or what? Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Charles, My method would be to place duck tape on the backings of the slots, fill them with Evercoat Glazing, sand, apply Evercoat fine glazing to take of pin holes, sand, spray entire panel with primer/filler, use guide coat and block sand level, then paint. Richard

Charles, One additional point. If you have the glazing, you can cut a small piece of fiberglass mat into fine threads and mix it with the glazing for additional structural strength. If not, you can buy Evercoat Tiger Hair glazing which has the fiberglass strands in it. Richard
