Anyone have any tips on stopping a 427/435 from dieseling. I have just finished some work on the engine. I use high octane fuel. I have replaced the plugs, plug wires, the three carbs have been reconditioned, new gaskets, the timing has been set. Before all this work was done it was very bad. After this work was done it is much better, but it still diesels a little.

Re: Big Block Dieseling
Convert the ported vacuum advance to full time, which is simple/inexpensive to do. Do a little archive browsing, including a thread by Rich Snow last June. Use search words "L-71", "VAC" and VC1765". You will need a different than OE VAC, which is explained along with why this conversion is likely to solve overheating/runon problems - EGT, combustion chamber boundary temps, etc.
