I have a 1973 coupe I bought from original owner recently. It is a smallblock car with the original A/C compressor still installed, but the belt is off and pulley bearing is seized. The compressor has the black wire with single pin connector that plugs into the back of it. I believe that this is a superheat compressor , is this correct ? Also, I have a working Non-superheat compressor without the wire receptacle in the back from a 1974 Corvette. Question I have is, can I use this non-superheat compressor in my car, until such time as rebuilding the original or does that superheat wire need to be connected for the A/C system to function? TIA, Craig

Re: 1973 A/C compressor usage
Craig,
I've found much useful information on this website:
Lots of GM A/C related topics. I got much help to rebuild a A6 compressor some time ago. Use the search function and it may answer that exact question. I recall reading something there about that.
Also check out this rebuild article. I think the A6 was used on the 73's right?
