        Russ and Joe,
        Great stuff! Thanks.

Did either of you notice that they used a '56 for the under hood picture (the one after the "chrome shifter ball" automatic transmission picture)? You can clearly see the washer bag mounted on the inner fender which was '56 only. As I am sure you both know they switched to the white plastic container with the red lid for '57.

My 57 Nassau/Daytona car has a washer bag. No room for a washer bottle with the big brake air tubes..plus a sun tach brain mounted on the heater delete plate...ruled out moving it there like the 57 Sebring cars.

The Nassau engineering cars were fitted with Sun tachs that had GM part #'s allocated to them.

I just received a color film from the Dec. 1956 Nassau, Bahamas Governors trophy races that show my Nassau/Daytona car. Also shows Carroll Shelby and the Marquise Alfonse De Portago who drove for Ferrari and others. The film was taken by Suzy Dietrich who drove a 550 Porsche Spyder.

Coincidentally..she is from Ohio..just like the Bill Connell Pilot airbox car!

Joe, I remember seeing the washer bag on your car when I inspected it at Marks' house. Wasn't the bag modified to a different shape? I believe it is smaller and more rectangular.

My comment on the washer bag photo in the film was clearly for the standard equipped cars and not cars like yours. Do you know if any of the very early '57s had bags? I have never seen one on a '57.

You have uncovered some very unique memorabiia for that car. What are your plans for the film?

Actually..I have not studied the washer bag in the Nassau car nor have I attempted to take it out..and until I decide to restore the car..it will remain as is. Not sure if it is a standard 56 production bag or something used at engineering. Probably a standard bag. Can't tell you if any very early 57's were delivered with washer bags. I would need to study that...as I do know the whereabouts of several cars from the first 50.

George Swartz owns 57 #1..and just restored it. I wonder if he used a bag or bottle.

I will be transferring the 56 Nassau,Bahamas film to the computer so I can study it in detail and be able to print individual frames. Should result in some great photos.

I need to locate a scanning device for 8mm and 16 mm film.

              Regards,

              Joe

                Joe,
I remember your washer bag as being black (possibly painted over) and it was mounted down towards the splash shield on the driver side. Considering the limited space I suspect that it is not the standard size bag used on the regular production.

I have spoken with George many times and may give him a call to see what he used.

Good luck with the film and all of your plans. I look forward to seeing them when you are ready.

                  Joe,

There are some businesses here in Tulsa that do that sort of thing.

I wonder if they actually scan the film frame by frame or if they play the film and video it.

I want to be able to improve the picture quality of old faded film which can be done through digital scanning.

                      Joe,

I would get a good transfer of the film first then use the copy they make to pull your frames. Some places can do more adjusting than others and fix the quality scene by scene.
