    62 Convertable Top Fit

I just installed a top from Al Knoch. Everything went fine but the fit at the rear of the side windows at the bottom edge is too high. When sitting in the car with the top up and the doors closed I can see out between the fabric and the rear bow. Looks like it should be lower. The cord that holds the cover in the rear bow worked great. The weather strip extensions that attach under the window weather strips fit great. The only fault I see is that it is just too short coming down the rear of the side window runs. Any suggestions?

Also if there are any tricks to getting the top and windows lined up I would appreciate knowing them. I will eventually get it but there must be a better way than trial and error. My trick on getting the retainer in place for the middle screw on the window weather stripping is to run a piece of wire through the hole from the outside. Thread the retainer on the wire and run it up with your fingers. Pull the wire out and run the start the screw without moving anything. Worked every time.

    Re: 62 Convertable Top Fit

Jim, without seeing your top it's sort of hard to give advise. I installed a top on my 62 last summer and I recall having to streach the material a little in this area. I also found that after I had it installed i had to go back and take the window ws off and tighten the tab that goes under it.

As far as making your windows fit, your best opportunity to do this was when the fabric was off the frame. You can still make adjustments, but they will be more difficult and may require that you loosen or tighten the fabric when you're done. Where specifically does the window not fit? If you have a hardtop or can borrow one, the first thing to do is make sure the windows fit he hardtop. This may require adjusting the windows, door posts, etc.

If you can be more specific, I'll try to point you in the right direction.
