    70 SEATBELTS

i just pulled the seatbelts out of my 72. it has lap belts only. the retractor was bolted under the seat and was covered by a black plastic pannel with 5 screws. the seat belt went under a metal bar bolted to the floor beside the seat. the metal bar was under the edge of the plastic cover.

    here is my question...

is that the same set-up for the 70?
    ----------------------------------
when i got my 70 the seatbelts were out of the car in a box. i did not see the plastic covers. did it have them? i have the seatbelts sent off to ssnakeoil to get redone. the 70 also had shoulder belts.

    Re: 70 SEATBELTS

1972 has retractable lap belts. 1970 & 1971 do not. Thus the 1972 lap belt and its installation is different than the 1970 and 1971. There are some differences in the lap belt installation (and the model number on the tag) during 1972 production. Early (during calendar year 1971) production has a different seat belt warning system than the later 1972 MY system, and there are some differences in the under seat details as a result. I believe some of this, maybe all of it, is in the TIM&JG, although the operational differences may be in the Operations and PV Manual -- I'm not sure how operations and PV are currently split, as that has changed since I was TL.

The appearance of the seatbelts and how they are mounted are the same for all 1972s. There is a difference in the model number because of the wiring added for the warning light sometime in December 1971.
