Re: 70 storage box info
Jim-----
Thanks, I saw it but I haven't had time to respond. I also saw Terry's, Larry, and others information. I'm going to try to "digest" all this tomorrow. So far, no one's come up with a "short" pressed fiberboard piece. To be honest, I've never seen one; I've HEARD that they exist, but I've never seen one.
Just from the limited information we have so far, I think I now understand what the difference was for the 68-only (possibly early 69, too) and the 69-E73.
Terry's SERVICE example of the GM #333578 looks like it's pretty much the same as the 69-E73.
I know, for sure, that the GM #362962 was "short". And, I'm pretty sure that this piece was made in both "pressed wood" as well as plastic. I have NOS examples of both around here, but the "pressed wood" piece is harder for me to get at.
So, I'm scratching my head regarding any possible pressed fiberboard piece that was "short". I can see the possibility of different materials being used for the same part number (by specification revisions or optional construction specs), but I just can't see a different dimensional piece being made under the same part number. And, I think we've accounted for all of the part numbers. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 70 storage box info
Joe,
Looking into my files, in Sept. 1984, I purchased #362962 from a GM dealer. It is 'short', and it is a much heavier material than my deep, likely-original tray. 'Pressed wood' is a good description of the material used on my 362962.
There are no ink-stampings or any other numbers on it.- Top
