I have removed my seats for a little weld work I need done under the passenger side. I noticed there are plastic sleeves on each end of the handle rod, located behind a washer and a spring clip. Since the end of the rod is welded, which prohibits removal, how do you change these plastic sleeves? Any help appreciated.

Howdy Don,
I have my '66 apart for a little R & R also. The white plastic bearings you ask about are split on my car, which makes them easy to remove. Mine show some wear, but not enough to replace. Should yours need replacement I think LICS has what you need in section 16, part # 44B. Bill- Top

Re: 1966 Seats
Thanks Bill:
Yes, I found them in LICS and also Paragon. I thought mine looked split but they have been painted over. Mine look worn pretty good. I assume you remove the ring pin and slide the washer back, pry out the old. If they are split then I guess all you need to do is pop them over the handle rod and slide them into the opening. All sounds simple until I go to do it !- Top
