C2:67 Just planning ahead

What would be the routes of a road tour from N.California (Sonora) to St. Louis for the National in July 2008. Would like to go through Denver and pick up my uncle on the way.

Anybody driven on Highway 6 through Nevada between Tonopah and Ely, Nv. or would the Road tours be on 50 or 80. Would Ely,Nv. to Grand Junction, Co. via 50/70 be a stretch for a days drive.

Just planning ahead, any advice welcome.

I've driven Nevada 6 but it's been a long time. As I recall THEN, it was an OK road. VERY, VERY "lonely", though. You don't want to break down.

US 50 through Nevada is a better road---very well maintained in most places. I drove it to the Park City convention a few years ago. It's also VERY lonely. Very few towns (Eureka and Austin were the "biggies" and there wasn't much to them). Very little else, at all. My kind of road, though. It was 109 degree F the day we drove it, but dry and comfortable. I didn't have either Corvette, though.

Agree!

Joe's on the money, that route has adequate road surface but it's a long, hot (in summer) boring drive that requires you to constantly keep your tank filled to get through the stretches where there aren't many gas stations. I drove it in my '71 returning to Denver from the Monterey National Convention.
