I have 3 references that I am working with as I am trying to identify the right side (passenger) motor part number. The AIM for 73 says 9714098-9 but does not say which is which. The 1978 Chevrolet Corvette Chassis and parts catalog says the RH part is 4999678 and the 1983 Corvette Chassis and parts catalog says RH is 4999680 and LH is 4999678. Whats gives? What number is correct? Anyone have any experience with this. Also I believe that the connection changed at some point from round to square. Which connection would the 73 have (I have not removed the door panel yet). Thanks.

Re: Power window motor part number 1973 RH
Charles------
Usually, the odd numbered part is the left side and the even numbered part is the right side. However, I don't think that window motors follow this general rule. In this case, I THINK that the 9714098 is the left side and the 9714099 is the right side.
Window motors are one of those parts that usually have different SERVICE part numbers than PRODUCTION motors. However, if you purchased one in, say, 1973, the motor in the box will usually have the same on-motor part numbers as the 1973 PRODUCTION motors. The reason for the difference is that SERVICE window motors usually have other parts in the box. So, the part number on the box (and, in the P&A Catalog) represents the contents of the box, not just the motor. The same thing is true of most shock absorbers and quite a few other parts, as well.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Power window motor part number 1973 RH
I see your Power Window motor picture. Does that box have a Part Number on it. I have been looking for a replacement motor but apparently there was a change in the late 70's where the RH motor was used on the left side and vice a versa. Also other cars like Chevelle used the same motor to power the opposite side. Therefore depending on where you are able to find the motor they may be selling you a right or a left. You have a 50/50 chance of getting the right (or should I say correct) one. Once I open the door panel I want to have everything I need to complete the job.- Top

Re: Power window motor part number 1973 RH
Sorry I don't have the part number , I have many pic's of parts but not all numbers . But I cant see using (one) motor for ether side because of the way it's designed. For that matter any motor , even the headlights.
When you need a right or left part// the part number you order ends in odd or even 7 or 8 which means a left like 7 or right like 8 or 0.- Top
