    67/437 Won't Start

I drove my 67/435 2 days ago and it ran fine. I put it up on the lift to start preparing for a try at a Top Flight this summer. I put an used original distributor cap on it, looks OK, and a Repo 263 coil. When I tried to start the car it will spin over but will not fire until you let off the key. Then it fires back through the carbs. I have rechecked the firing order and made sure there are no wires grounding out. Everything looks correct. I then put the old coil back on and it does the same thing? Any idias?
    Thanks Bill

    Hi Bill

Start over again.. Check to make sure the wires in the cap are in the right order. Check the cap for cracks and the inside of cap for carbon tracks.Make sure the rotor is ok.Make sure the coil wires are on secure. If all that is good and you still have a problem, put the old cap and coil back on and try again to see if it works better. If not, then it is possible that you moved the distributer and the timing is off.

Coil wires on correct terminals? With the backfiring through the carb, the back pressure could have ruptured the power valve.

Likely the TI amplifier is bad or has bad ground. *NM*

"67/437 Won't Start". I thought it might have been the 2 extra HP that might have been causing the problem! Glad to hear it was something much more simple.
