Any Ideas on the correct hook up to original 54 heater def. switch question thanks Brad.

I read your earlier post. Not familiar with the 54 switch as it's different from the 59 but I'll try....
I just realized in the ST12 diagrams there is no diagram of "ANY" C1 heater switches. No mention of the heater anywhere. Even my 58, 59-60suplmnt, 61, 62suplmnt has nothing, nada, zero for Corvette. 53-55 diagram doesn't even show the heater feed wire, at least I can't find it anywhere. Later C1 wiring diagrams just show the 14g brown wire connector going to nowhere, which is the feed for the switch. Your AIM(avail in 54??) has no info?
My 59 has brown feed to switch side(next to resistor coil), then brown top to heater motor. I see in my parts book it's a different part# for the 54's but principle is likely the same. There must be a blower resistor as part of the switch on yours similar to the 58-62. If so, that's why it gets hot on low speed. Current gets diverted through the resistor making the blower turn at a slower speed because it's getting lower voltage. Thing to check is make sure your battery is fully charged. Your on 6V right? Remember, current goes up when voltage is lower, so it may just be that. If not good, charge it fully and see what happens. Only other thing to cause higher current if battery's ok is you may have a bad blower motor, ie brushes and/or commutator dirty, causing extra resistance in the flow of current.
BTW, you said the switch got hot and popped the breaker. What breaker? Do you mean fuse, or is there a aftermarket circuit breaker added to the switch you bought?

Brad, The switch has two wires with spade ends. The red goes to the junction block. The other goes to the blower motor lead wire coming out from behind the heater assembly. There is a bakelite terminal there that clips to the heater box. Make sure that you have the heater leads hooked up right for polarity. Otherwise, the blower motor may blow backwards. You can find out by turning it on and feel for air coming out or not. If no air, just switch the wires on the switch terminals.

Brad, ok....It doesn't matter if you reverse the feed/blower wire. It'll do the same thing. If it acts different then it was just a bad connection the first time. Make sure all contacts are clean and tight. You may have to squeeze the wire terminal ears a bit. If you stick a tiny jewelers screwdriver in the back of the terminal flat side between the plastic housing and terminal, it'll release the tang so you can get at them. After, just carefully bend the tang back out a bit then reinstall to click it locked.
