    Re: Re assigned VIN

It may be just that, a story....or a story no one wants to repeat.

Things are changing for all of us these days. Not unlike many other high dollar cars. The hobby has become high dollar business for many. If no one challenges the "story", then someone hit a home run. There was a 53 recently sold for high dollars with NOT all of the story included. It really seems that no one cares or no one wants to get involved because it's easy to sit back and be a spectator. Before long, there will probably be more 53's on the road than the original 300.

    Dis-heartening....but a sad reality.

See page 48 of the following article:

"ES-127 [#003] was then scheduled to be the first production Corvette to undergo a grueling 5000 mile Belgian Block test at the Proving Group in August of 1953. Following that test, which resulted in some minor metal fractures to the chassis frame, ES-127 was reconditioned with a new frame, new front and rear suspension, new steering parts, and various body work which consisted essentially of the same items done to #3950 (VIN #1) and #3951 (VIN #2), under work order #19013-22 (supp. #3). Reconditioning of #003 was completed in August, 1953, and the car continued use as a production design check Corvette."
