Changing my 63 SHP to HOAT from the green stuff per DB. Can someone describe best method to purge all old green fluid pls? Thanks

The best method is to remove the drain plugs (both of them) at the bottom of the block and drain the entire block. On my car with the shielding in place that is not easy to get at. You have to remove the boomerang shield and on the passengers side that means removing the starter. Plus those bolts are difficult to remove and you could snap one or both. I drained all the fluid from the radiator put in clean water ran the engine and drained it again. I did this several times until the fluid looked clean.- Top

I found the container I used. I topped off the 59 a while ago with about a half gallon 50/50 mix of this:
Havoline Extended Life Dex-Cool approved. It's orangey colored. No where on the label does it say not to mix with green type. Am I ok or is there a problem with what I did?
I went to havoline.com and spent quite some time reading and it didn't say not to mix it with the "green stuff".

I use distilled water to mix with antifreeze when I change it. I go to the trouble of removing the block drains on the initial drain of old coolant as well as the radiator drain. If your block drains have never been removed you should do it at least once to remove all the sediment that accumulates in this area of the block. You may be surprised how much trash can be removed. On my 85 with optionial cooling system the drivers side block drain has a coolant hose attached on a nipple and a knock sensor on the passenger side that I remove to drain the block. On my 96 both block drain locations have knock sensors that I remove. Removing both block drains will drain an estimated 1/2 gallon or more of coolant from the block.- Top
