    C3 fuel pump

    Can a AC#41217 work in place of a #40769 on a 72 base 350?
    Thanks

    Jeff-----

An AC 41217 was originally used on some early 70's Chevelles with small block as well as some mid 70's Chevrolet pick-up trucks with small block.

It should be a long canister pump with nipples on the bottom for fuel inlet and vapor return + a threaded fitting for fuel outlet.

From a FUNCTIONAL perspective, it will work for a 1972 Corvette with base 350. However, the fuel nipples and outlet will be oriented incorrectly for the application. You will have to fabricate a fuel line from the pump to the carb and you may have difficulty getting a proper fit for the rubber fuel lines.

Quite frankly, I would not recommend using it. Purchasing a correct fuel pump just isn't all that expensive and they are available. One word of caution in the latter regard, though: the AC 40769 fuel pump is discontinued and replaced by the AC 41240. The 41240 has a somewhat shorter canister than the 40769. This might, itself, cause a problem with fuel outlet line fitment. So, you might want to see if you can get a 40769, either NOS, or a 40769 clone from another manufacturer.
