Good day all. I was informed the other day that no A.O. Smith bodies ever received sidepipes. Something about the frame is a give away. This hard to believe! This fact is not discussed in the '66 Technical and Judging manual (latest addition, btw) . Should this be true could someone educate me here. Thanks. Mike #28614

You were informed correctly. AOS did not produce sidepipe cars. The birdcage was cut to make clearance for the sidepide hardware and only STL had the equipment to make the cuts. You might want to check the archives, as there is a lot more info on this topic. -
