    Crank Handle Sloppyness

Within the last couple of days, there was a post about the fit (or lack of it) of repo window crank handles. On my '64, the handles are also a bit sloppy. I don't know if they are repos or not, but I was thinking about the problem in general.

Is there a way of improving the fit? Say maybe a thin strip of nylon inserted between the male and female joint. Or maybe spraying both male and female contact points with silicone and then use an araldite to fill the gaps? Aluminium foil? I don't know - just thinking.

    Bud.

    Hi Bud,

Not familiar with the exact crank you have, but maybe it's possible to set the knob in a cushioned softwood holder with a drift and hammer set the back of the rivet a bit tighter?

    Just a thought....Rich
