Dual snorkel air cleaner

Okay, a few years back while searching for a dual snorkel air cleaner for my '70 Corvette I bought a dual snorkel air cleaner off eBay for $150. It was adverised as a '67 396 air cleaner and I have a '66 396 Impala SuperSport. When I received it after research I discovered that 1.) it is actually a 427 Impala air cleaner and 2.) the 90 degree metal flame arrestor tube was MIA and a slug was brazed onto it to cap the hole. I had the brazing mostly removed and the slug fell off so the hole is intact. Where does one find that metal tube? Reproduced? Or do I find one off of a donor 396 single snorkel air cleaner? This question might interest those who might have the same problem with their Corvette dual snorkel air cleaners.

What is the OD of that tube? I have a simlar situation with my base-motor 67 convertible with California smog (K-19). That specific tube was knocked off and a plug put in. They reproduce the air cleaner base with the correct tube, but no one will allow me to know who the manufacturer is so that I can purchase just the tube. I have a print for that tube at home--don't have the OD in my mind.

Mike,

I'd "guess" that either Paragon or Vette Products of Michigan is the vendor of the air cleaner base. That is what I've heard by asking certain vendors personally. I'd give those two a try and see if they can help.

I can send you photos I copied from another one that sold on eBay but they're only for detail purposes so I can see the angle and lengths once I find one. The hole appears to measure one inch across.
