    Re: 67 Speedminder question

    Mike -

A '67 cluster labeled "LA" is a base (non-speedminder) cluster; someone may have converted it. I've discussed the speedminder lens issue with Brian Tilles at CSoM (who has restored hundreds of them), and he maintains that the speedminder speedo (and tach) lenses are plastic, and are concave as viewed from the driver's seat (otherwise the setting shaft is too short).

        Re: 67 Speedminder question

Mike, I agree with what John stated and to clarify: The driver would be looking at the concave side of the lens and that the lenses on the speedo cars are plastic. The Vette Vues fact book by MF Dobbins has an excellent photo of this in the 1967 section which also states that speedo cars used Plexiglass lenses(ninth edition page 290). I believe the tag on a speedo dash should read LH. Regards,Kieran #11373
