A local gentleman has a '66 L79, originally from California, with original window sticker, warranty book w/P-o-P, and cylinder case assembly stamping suffix all indicating K19 (air injection reactor).
Trouble is, all (and I mean ALL) of the smog stuff has been removed, and replaced with proper non-K19 equipment. He asked me how it would judge, and the more I got into the judging sheets, TIM and Judging Reference Manual, the more I felt this was a question best put to the black hats.
I am aware of the draconian "subject to full deduction" as it pertains to N14, N40, J50, etc. additions or deletions, but (in this case) if the only indicator is the assembly stamp suffix code (assuming that he doesn't present the window sticker and that the P-o-P is not decoded during flight), I can see two outcomes.
1. Assume that the suffix is a factory error. Should maybe lose half of the 25 points for assembly stamping. Everything else in the engine compartment is correct non-A.I.R.
2. But, if it is deemed that the suffix is correct, then full deductions are in store for the rest of the K-19 equipment that is not present, and items that are present but in their non-K19 version. [ie. carb, air cleaner base, exhaust manifolds, air pump, hoses, belts, brackets, pulleys, etc.) In this latter example, the points hit could be massive.
Would like your opinions.
