    My 1973 carpet. Question.

I just took out the 45,000 mile carpet. The Judging guide for 73 and 74 said the rear carpet is held in with three 7/8 rubber plugs. Mine does not have any plugs or any holes in the back for plugs! The carpet was held in with three small black screws! Is the manuaal/guide wrong? Or is my car the only one without holes in the back?
    Thank you for your help.

I have put carpet in many 73's and all have had the plugs. Screws would be hard to sell to the judges. The three holes were about 3/8 inch and you should see if they are in the back wall near the top. If you have no holes in the back wall then you could install the new carpet with screws and be ready to show and tell during judging and see if you win. If the factory run out of plugs they could have used screws because production did not stop for a minor part. The easy way out is install the plugs but it's your choice.

I looked and looked, I do not have holes. I will drill some just like my 72
LT-1 had. That will work. This will be easier that selling judges on no holes. Thanks for your help.

If the panel has no holes and never did I think you could win the judging call. It's still your call but I would use screws again.

                Ken -

Be sure and use a drill stop - the fuel tank is right behind that bulkhead.
