461 X Head Survey

461 X heads survey; I have not accumulated a great deal of information, but you can view what I have collected at: http://wnyncrs.org/Fuelie%20heads%20461 and click on the 461 survey.

If any one has additional information and pictures about the 461 X heads, the information would be appreciated. I am very interested in the early 461 X heads. 1961 (1960 casting dates) through the 1962 production year.

it has been years since i looked at 461 X heads

but if i remember correctly the "X" is in the water jacket casting hole only seen with the head off of the engine. the last 3 digits of the head casting numbers were sometimes also in this area

I have a spare set of '63 MY 461X and the humps are rounded.

What's your best estimate on when the casting symbol changed?
