    Glen------

It will be found on the right side, rear vertical surface of the MAIN case, just forward of the rear bearing retainer plate ("mid-plate")and extension housing. There are two stampings located on this surface. You will find a transmission build code which will be an alpha-numeric series beginning with "P". You will also find the VIN DERIVATIVE, usually stamped with a smaller font size than the trans code. The VIN DERIVATIVE is just that------a portion of the complete VIN which includes several characters of the VIN and the car's serial number.

Glen - the VIN derivative stamping Joe mentions was done at the same time your engine was stamped, so, if all original, you will find the stamping "anomolies" such as football o's, round o's etc will all match, plus any holder wear attributes such as cocked letters or curving...etc...Craig
