    67 Coil Bracket

On a 67 435 coil bracket, rumor is their is a samll hole above or below the screw that clamps the side of the bracket to hold the coil. What is the correct location of this small hole as it relates to this engine option?
    Thanks

I don't recall any extra hole in this area. There might have been one, though. If so, I never paid any attention to it. The bracket for 3 X 2 was different than other brackets, though. The difference related to the configuration of the lower portion of the "inside edge" of the bracket. It was configured differently for clearance reasons. Actually, it might be found on other big blocks, too, but it was used for L-68 and L-71.

            I think Mike's got it!

SB engines, if radio equipped, had the radio's RF capacitor, 1960958 mounted to the top portion of the ignition shield brace. This was the version of the RF cap with a 'foot' on the bottom of the case.

BB engines, when radio equipped, used a 1945452 RF capacitor that bolted to the coil's holding bracket through a hole centered in the tab section of the coil bracket's body. The L36 coil bracket differered from the tri-power version of the bracket as the tri-power bracket angled the coil differently to provide better forward clearance.

The AIM only depicts two of the three variations (option section UPC U69, Sheet A5) since the L36 and L68/L71 setup was so similiar (only difference was the geometry of the coil bracket). The coil's radio RF capacitor would not have been present on radio equipped cars with TI ignition leaving the mounting hole on the coil bracket de-populated...

Yes, there definitely was a small hole in the area of the condenser attachment portion of the bracket. This was nowhere near the cross screw area, though.

Joe,I will add this just to jar your mind. It is a very samll hole, 3-32", for some type of a return srping.I have been told 3X2's cars had it one place, in the case of my car it is at the bottom or closer to the intake, and L36's had it in another location. The AIM and JM has not been any help at this time. My gut feeling is this hole was for some other application as you know the L71's and 36's carb return springs attach to a bracket up towards the front of the engine. I have not read the other post as of yet but I think I have a pretty good idea I am dealing with another rumor.

                    Thanks
