Re: Old Paint Chart by Year

I just got an original 1954 Chevrolet Ditzler paint chip sheet which includes the interior colors as well. It shows DAL-21055-DQE "PUEBLO TAN" as the interior color for the DAL-11238-DQE Pennant Blue exterior. The sheet calls it "METALLIC BLUE POLY" It's their form number 5405 Rev. 3-56.

An older person from my church who was in to Chevys when he was younger pulled it from his stack of sheets and gave it to me. I thought it was (is) a good rescource for matching the exact original colors. The sheet looks quite old making me belive the "Rev. 3-56" is probably accurate. Is this sheet a rare item or does everyone have one?

Randy, 53-5 Chevy with Corvette paint chip sheets are frequently available. Unfortunately, using a paper paint chip to match or blend paint from is not a good idea. Reasons being primarily are the paint chips are paper and Corvettes are fiberglass. Along with that the paper ages and so does the color on the paper paint chip. Always best to use a piece of fiberglass with the original color on it if it's available. Tried to get as many 56-7 color pieces s from busted cars as I could over the years. JMTCW. Happy Thanksgiving, Gary....

The chart is missing black for '58....

Given black was available in late '58 and both '57 and '59 specify the same paint I assume it's the same. I've never seen if GM called it Onyx or Tuxedo.... Anyone know? Ted

Black is black, by any name, the paint was the same for 59 and later cars.
