    Chassic Stencil

Need the part number for my 1973 frame stencil, I cannot find anyone who makes the frame stencil for any car older than a 1972, I tried Quanta first. They can make the stencil if I provide them with the part number
NCRS Tech manual says the 73 stensil goes behimnd the right front wheel ????
    Any help would be appreciated.

Hmmm... From the "basic question" dept...

Wouldn't the typical chassis stencil be obliterated at assembly by the chassis blackout process?

Re: Hmmm... From the "basic question" dept...

Frames were typically painted by the frame manu. Then he placed the part number on the frame.

Blackout typically covers areas of the body that can be seen from a "standing location" such as partial fender wells and under the hood. It was used to make things look uniform..... Frames were not "blacked out", because the blackout process happened before the body met the frame.

            Dave -

The C2 chassis blackout process was minimal, and by '65 only included the side and rear of the mufflers; main frame rails never got any blackout.

There were two blackout processes done in the 58-62 ear-- one on the inverted frame with exhaust, etc already installed (but didn't do frame rails) and the underside of inner fenders and part of the spare tire well.

                    Gerald------

The frame part number would have been 330960 for 4 speed-equipped cars and 330970 for those equipped with THM-400.
