    Mmmm...I Don't Know, Clem...

If there was a running change to eliminate the solenoid during the model year, it's possible that changes to the harness would be avoided.

Eliminating the wire from the harness would provide no savings and the change could result in supply problems. It would probably have made sense to simply have the assembly plant snip the wire off close to the harness for the remainder of the model year. This was often done to avoid two unique harnesses for different options, e.g. C60 versus no C60.

If the elimination of the solenoid carried over to the next model year, the elimination of the solenoid wire from the harness would likely have occured at the model year changeover IMO.

i was referring to the original owner removing the solenoid as i do not think they would go to the trouble to clip off the connector and put the wire end back into the harness. what year and what engine are you concerned about because i can't say for sure but i believe my DELCO ROCHESTER carb parts book list the brackets and solenoid if the carb was equipped with one. the carb # would be a big help

          I Agree...

The point I was making is that the presence of the wire in the harness may also mean the factory removed the solenoid, but didn't bother removing the wire from the harness.

Smart thinking on the carb parts book...that may be a good back door solution to this apparently unanswerable question. This specific thread is about a mid year 69, but as I understand it, the broader question extends across 68-69. You should solicit Dickie, et al to put you on the 68-69 committee. (Yuk, yuk)

If the solenoid came installed on the carb, the carb numbers would've changed with the solenoid. Unfortunately, if the solenoid was installed at the assembly plant as it sounds, the carb number may have remained the same, and the parts books only cover the solenoid parts for service...In other words, if it has one, and you need one, then this part number is used on this carb number.

Re: No LS6 in 70...You're Thinking of LS7

LS 6, LS 7, whatever. They's just numbers anyway. What I was getting at is that the AIM is a poor reference as to what is and is not correct.
