C3-Alternator Numbers

I have these numbers on my 71 vette. I believe it is the original alternator:

1100544 61A

1B6 12VNEG

Can someone tell me what each number means, please.

Yes, it could well be the original alternator if the car has C-60. The first number is, of course, the alternator part number which is correct for a 1971 Corvette. The "61A" means the alternator is rated at a maximum output of 61 amps. The 3rd set of numbers, "1B6", is the date code. It decodes to February 6, 1971. The last set of numbers of course means 12 volt, negative ground which all 1955-2008 Corvettes (except 1955 with 6 cylinder) are.

By virtue of the date code, your car would have to have been built after February 6, 1971.

My car was built on February 16, 1971 so it all lines up.

What does C-60 mean?
