    1971 Ontario Orange

I recently started looking for a 71 or 72 corvette. I have never paid much detail to them before. I know its everyones opinion and may not be mine when I see it, but wanted to know how some of you liked or do not like Ontario Orange. There is a 71 Ontario Orange vette for sale a few hours from me. It lookis ok in the pictures just wanted to know if it was a desirble color. Its a long trip to take if the color is ugly. Thanks for your time.

          Joe,

I have an Ontario orange '71 coupe presently. In the sunshine the paint is attractive, almost sort of glowing. As a matter of fact the color is very similar to the dark sunset metallic orange and atomic orange that the C6 generation 'vettes use.

However on a cloudy day, Ontario orange appears quite dull, the color is muddied.

I like Ontario Orange--but I like anything orange. I also started looking for a big block Ontario Orange but the price just started to escalate from 15k to 45 k so fast it would make your head spin. (Over a couple of years or so.)

If it is the original paint, or a good repaint it is nice -- but I have seen a lot of poor efforts at repainting that color. I would not have chosen it in 1971, but it looks good now.

Ontario orange is a firemist color, with some special pigments. Very expensive compared to other colors in the old lacquer. Its a nice color with a lot of flip-flop.

                        Joe,
I think Ontario Orange 'dates' a car. In this case I think that's a very good thing.
                        Regards,
                        Alan
