    1964 vette fram

I am currently looking at a 64 vette . The seller says it has rust spots on the frame and needs a frame repair. Does anyone out there know what a new frame would cost, where to get one and some kind of a ballpark on how much this would run to be done by others. car looks good and the price of 26,500 is okay I think
    Thanks

Check the archives or Google "reproduction 1964 corvette frames" and you will get more information that ever wanted on the topic.

The NEW frames from Vette Products of Michigan (the ONLY manufacturer, as far as I know) are the ONLY way to go, as far as I'm concerned. I think you're looking at $2500-3000 + shipping. These frames are NEW, not 40 years old.

            Will these frames pass judging?

That I don't know. Someone else will need to advise on that point. I can say this, though: the ones I've seen look identical to the originals. Whether there may be some nuance of difference, I can't say.

                64 vette sold

While I was trying to find out the cost, availability of 64 frames, the car was sold. Probably just as well as a frame replacement is awayyyyyyyy beyond my talents. In hindsite probably saved me a lot of grief.

                Thanks anyway guys

I can absolutely GUARANTEE you that the car being sold saved you a lot of anguish, grief, and money. No doubt about that, at all. Period.

                    Re: 1964 vette fram

If the seller says a "frame repair" why do you assume a full frame replacment is required? Replacement frame rails have been around for a long time and are a viable alternative to frame replacement, depending on the amount of damage and your intentions.

If you want a frame off, top flight car that is one thing but if you want a nice driver the frame rail replacemnts may suffice and give you a bargaining tool when negotiaiting price with your seller.

I had full framerail replacements done on a 1965 Roadster in 1984 at the Corvette Center in Newton, CT. They loosen your body mounts and jack the body high enough to replace the rails. Plan on replacing the body mounts, fuel and brake lines while your are there and the exhasut may not go back together either...
