    Catoosa auction---updates?

Any reports on the auction in the Tulsa area this past Saturday?
I was there and wished I'd taken my camera so I could post photos of the '00011 '65 vert. that sold for $28K---without a title! Just my opinion, but I estimated that restoration would be $30K if one did all the work himself, to $60K if done by a restoration shop.

Saw a ton of C2/3 parts.

    Poor buys (in my opinion),
1)C2 hard top missing parts and needing total restoration----$1,000.00
2)'65 FI unit w/distributor, welded up Plenum legs (ugly), unknown component condition, no air cleaner------$4,900.00

    Possible good buys?
    1)C2 FI distributors----$750.00 each (2)
    2)One 391 head (k of 6)and one 208 head (E of 5)unknown condition----$1,800.00 (for the "set")
    3)One 858 and three 840 heads--- $1,500.00 (all 4 heads)
4)'65 Vert. birdcage (rust free and appeared fairly straight)with ratty rear clip and partial front end -----$1,600.00

    Good buys.
    1) real '70 LS6 alternator-----$110.00 (not Corvette)
    2) nos '69 small block side pipes---$170.00
    3) '67 spare tire tub (nice condition)-----$60.00
    4) '69 side pipe covers (pitted but restorable) with excellent insulators---$225.00
    5) '69 t/t steering column w/wheel-----$450.00
    6) 870 short block (A of '64---RE code) -----$50.00
    7) Original mid year FI "S" tube----$60.00!!!!
Original midyear left side a/c duct (under dash, complete)----$60.00
    9) '70 5 port wiper motor and pump----$20.00
    10) rear ends, transmissions, trailing arms and assemblies, clutchs/flywheels, headers, air cleaners, exhaust manifolds, small block heads, emblems, wheel covers, trim rings, center caps, hoods, suspension components, gauges, bumpers, trim pieces, braces/brackets, wheels, a/c hard lines, starters, bell housings, etc., etc. were good buys if you had a use for them.

Love to hear from others who attended.

    Re: Catoosa auction---updates?

The heads for the 64 RE shortblock (365HP) were on a pallet 461 cast L53 on both, factory 2.02 intakes. Don't know how much they sold for.

I knew Larry Clain for over 40 years. He had this 365 HP engine in a street roadster in the 60. He never sold anything so I know the intake and carburetor were around someplace but I didn't see them.

The FI unit was a 65 plenum with 63 air and fuel meter and 63 distributor. I found the distributor on the pallet with the other distributors and put it with the unit.

        Re: Larry Clain

Several cars were stolen the weekend after he died, and no, they have not been found. There are some suspects but no cars.
