    Tank Sticker Repros.

Has anyone seen the tank stickers being offered on E-Bay for some time now? If I owned a car with a real tank sticker I would be concerned if this sticker is as good as I hear it is - it opens up the door to all kind of bad things. Am I incorrect to think that the Chevrolet Motor Division, if the copy is of really good quality, could step in to stop the printing since the words "Chevrolet Motor Division" appear on the copy? Could they at least have the Company remove anything that says Chevrolet? Just wondering how the Company continues to run E-Bay ads?.

    Ed,

I have seen the work first hand and it is definetly superb. With that being said it would definetly be easy to fool someone who isn't to smart when it comes to these cars. I do not think there is anything that can be done to stop the sale of these items. They are being sold as reproductions.

    Cheers,
    Craig

Craig, I don't know about your statement. Anytime you are using a manufacturers name to make decals, stickers, etc. you must be licensed to do so. In fact at Corvette Carlisle this past year there were people from GM, etc. going around checking for unauthorized use of their name. John

You know that statement heard all the time among car nuts " It's only original once" I think that might hold true for these tank stickers, they might only be reproductions the first time they sell. I would think a large percentage of people buying them are looking to flip a car and looking to present some type of paperwork to drive the price.

It is amazing what a microwave and spilled tea will do for a piece of paper.

Hey, what about restamped blocks... which are authenticated by NCRS and passed off as original equipment.... remember the LAST 67 CORVETTE documentary on TV
I've go to believe there are more 435's out there now than were sold in 67 and they're all "original".
How do you tell if the tank and glued sticker are original to the frame, running gear and body?
              And the list goes on.......

Farmer Dick, You are a big help u no. Hey it's called state of the art restoration. Which state does Art live in ex-farmer. You have to be a VH to figure that one out.JD
P.S. Last week end I lost my wad of money in the house. Little wad is better statement. Well I went crazy as that was all the cash I had. So I looked everything. Even prayed to St. Anthony. Couldn't find the money any where. So I had to go to the ATM machine that night or go thirsty. Meanwhile I came home rather late and walked over to the washing machine and there was my nice clean small roll of bills. So Dickie I put them in the micro and wouldn't you know burnt a hole in a 20. So you gotta be careful antiquing in the microwave my friend.

Steve, perhaps I am mistaken, but I do not believe we are "authenticating" anything?
