Any comments on M&H or Lectric for a wiring harness for a 63. I used Lectric before. I'm searching the archives I know theres some information on M&H. Some prefer them over Lectric.

Re: M&H or Lectric
I am about to replace the wiring on my '62 as well. I have always heard good things about Lectric, but I have no experience with any of these folks. More feed back would be great, comparing the two wiring harnesses. You know, fit, accurate componets, wire colors, judging, etc.- Top

Re: M&H or Lectric
There is no 'the' M&H... M&H is the largest manufacturer of classic American car wiring harness products in the world. They make Chevy, Buick, AMC, Etc. and their catalog is VERY large.
You have to go assy by assy to answer questions like these (how does this/that judge? + who makes the 'best' widget for?). In general, I think you'll like what you get from M&H.
They ARE a GM Licensee and they've re-tooled many of the detail items (connectors, Etc.) that are no longer available. But, nobody's 'perfect' and for good reason.
Some of the original materials used way back when are no longer available (banned for whatever reasons and/or simply replaced with a better this/that). So, expect almost every reproduction part to differ in some aspect or another from the real McCoy original the factory used.
One thing I personally like is M&H uses GXL insulation on their core wires vs. PVC. The factory original blend of PVC hasn't been available for quite some time now and GXL is self-extinguishing in a forced flame test (apply a torch, watch the insulation burn and melt, remove the torch and see it go out by itself!). Once PVC reaches its flash point, expect it to burn rapidly to completion...
For a classic car with fiberglass body panels, I'm an advocate of this difference in a wiring harness assy!- Top
