The name "blue devil" was an internal code name. Some thought that it might end up being used for the PRODUCTION car, but it's not going to be. The designation for the car formerly code-named "blue devil"? It's going to be ZR-1, reprising once again a model of C3 and C4 fame.
The engine will be a supercharged 6.2 liter of about 650 hp.
How to get on a list? Dealers maintain lists if there are any lists, at all. They are not maintained by GM. So, check with your dealer. Estimated price----about 95K.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Blue Devil
Yeap...I know of one dealer already making a list for the 2009s...don't know if anyone has signed up yet. (Hunnhhh??!! Whats up with that?...2009 will be the fifth year for this model, which is essentially unchanged since 2005?)
Check with the biggest Corvette dealers that will have plenty of allocations early...I'm pretty sure lists are already started for the ZR1 with lots of names on them. Some of these dealers had lists for the C6 Z06, and some had over 300 names before the car even began production.
Be advised...when you get on a list, you are guaranteed to pay at least MSRP plus a healthy "market ajustment" in my opinion. You are advertising that you must have one of these, and you want to be near the head of the line...be prepared to buy an expensive ticket for the ride.- Top

Oh, you can be sure of that! Getting on such a list is like hanging a sign on your back saying "gouge me good". The folks on such a list are a car dealer's "dream-come-true".In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Blue Devil
Yeah, Mike, it's evolved through the names...it depended on when you talked to him. Last I read, they had scrapped Z07, and had settled on ZR1 as Joe said. GM continues in the trend of resurrecting past performance icons...ZR1 was hardly cold in the ground.
I agree with the ZR1 choice over Corvette SS...the old SS badge was never associated with Corvette, and frankly, the "Super Sport" moniker is a little dated for wholesale performance model application like they were thinking. It would work well with the new retro Camaro, IMO.- Top

Re: Blue Devil
I bet when the smoke clears, the name ZR1 won't stick. My money is on Stingray. We'll see.
I would be surprised if anyone has an early spot for one of these available. Seems guys were putting their money down when the car was just a rumor. Several years ago.
Best of luck in your search !Tom Hendricks

Getting on a dealer's "list" for a hot new product only does three things:
1. It sets you up for a world-class gouging.
2. It creates no obligation whatsoever for the dealer to deliver anything.
3. The dealer collects the interest on your "deposit", and you get nothing.- Top
