      Juliet,

My rebuilt and mildly modified 270hp 1971 is faster than your old stock 300hp 1970.

Good to meet you at Carlisle (in person). And by the way, you car doesn't look as bad as you think it does.

      Patrick

Must be the extra drag of having the top down I guess. ~Juliet

Re: 62 Corvette Strg Column Tube

I just removed the steering box assembly from my 61', and took the steering column tube apart from the steering box....All I did was use a small hammer, and using the square opening where the turn signal wires exit the tube, I tapped against the tube housing, and that easily drove it out of the steering box. I am currently having the correct red color mixed to repaint the tube prior to re-assembly...... I hope this helps you......Phil

Ed- It's pretty clear you were satisfied with Clock Works. I think I'll pull mine and send for install of NOS mechanism.

Now, how do you recommend getting the sucka out?

                    Thanks.

                      Re: Clockworks contact info

Tom, it SHOULD be pretty simple. Depress the clock at the face and twist counterclockwise (as viewed facing the clock). It should twist about 1/8 turn or so, and come out toward the interior or rear of the car. Now, if the clock hasn't been out in a while you may have a bit of corrosion to deal with. You may have to reach in from the back side to get a firm grip on it to turn it. Be sure that the whole clock is depressed about 1/8-3/16" and is depressed evenly. Once you get it out, you can see that it is a pretty simple thing. The wavy spring is what holds it in place by putting forward pressure on the case. When reinstalling, I strongly recommend putting a 1 amp fuse in line with the power supply wire.

                        Re: Clockworks contact info

Thanks, Ed. I forgot to add it's a '67 conv. Assume the procedure is same. Good thought about 1A fuse.

And it's never been out of car. So, I'll hope for the best re: corrosion.

Surge Tank Dates - any months skipped ?

Did Harrison batch-produce these items, and if so, were not all month codes used ? If so, would Dewitt know which and stamp accordingly ?

                            Whooooa!!!

Everything I described is regarding removal of a clock from a 58-62. To remove the clock from a C2, remove the radio side panels. There is a clip on each side of the clock that can be removed by depressing the piece that sticks out toward the engine and then sliding the clip to the outside. DO NOT DEPRESS the clock from the paassenger compartment. Same advice regarding the 1 amp fuse applies. If you are not interested in originality, there are quartz conversions for these clocks that are simple enough to be installed by the average owner. Clockworks will repair your original movement cheaper than the quartz conversion, however.
