    Lt1 stamp pad

Looking for opinions on this stamp pad. 71 Lt-1 owner says its the original engine and original stamp. I used to have an Lt1 and the O's were not round like these are they were more squared. Any opinions.

    Regards,

    Jerry

Jerry, 0 or O or [] are OK in the engine assembly code, but not the VIN derivitive. Wish I could see more of the broach marks in your picture.

      Agree...

My '71 (a lowly base engine) has two zeros in the Flint 'wack' and one is oval the other square... Depends on which die the gang stamp was loaded with before the strike was made.

One with a solid 'forensic history' notebook of rather consecutive, known original, 'fingerprints' would probably have a better opinion and Terry's no 'slouch' in this department! Still, knowing EXACTLY what dies were loaded on which particular dates is bascially an art vs. a science and different stamp pad judges CAN/DO have different opinions...

Bottom line, your question is akin to that of how many angels can dance on the head of a pin!

There are some strange scratches running the wrong direction of the broach marks, pad looks like it got polished or cleaned up VIN stamp looks right.
